Wow, last 2 months of my life have been nuts. I don’t know how I will find time to continue updating this blog, but I am seriously going to try.
First big piece of news is the continuation and expansion of a business I started in 2012, Mirus Web Design. For the past 2 years I have built a few websites for people but have not actively tried to promote the business. Well, as I will talk about later, I am now pushing Mirus Web Design much harder. I spent most of today getting a web site up and running for it. It isn’t complete yet, but is most of the way there. If you’re interested in checking it out, click here.
Second piece of news, and what has consumed most of my time since the start of April is Explosion Games. A new web based store that offers TCG singles and accessories and soon will offer more gaming type items such as board games, miniature gaming and geek collectibles. I am also producing content in Blog, Vlog and Podcast form. I know this will take a while to take off, but I am having a hell of a lot of fun! If you want to check out the store, as well as the content (Please Like and Subscribe!), click here.
The final piece of big news was something that only happened this week. I left my long term job last August for what I thought was an exciting opportunity. It turned out it wasn’t, it was a total nightmare and after 3 months I managed to find another software development role with a smaller company. I didn’t mind the job and the people were good to work with, but the senior managers who hired me didn’t appear to fully understand the implications of having an on staff software developer.
I was concerned from fairly early on that they could suddenly decide they don’t know what they are doing and let me go. A new senior manager came in a few weeks ago and I built up a rapport with him. We seemed to be working well together, and then on Tuesday afternoon he calls me into his office and says they can’t justify someone as specialised as me on staff. Damn. They gave me a weeks notice and now I have to get another job. Meanwhile, I am working my butt off on Mirus Web Design and Explosion Games to make them successful. Busy times for me!
Finally, after one of the migrations, I lost all the MAME cabinet pics. I have corrected this and uploaded the photos again so anyone coming across this, you’ll see the photos again. After a big break, I am going to finish this so keep an eye out in the coming weeks for some big updates on the build! My project was also linked on Tested.com as well which was really exciting! Hello to anyone who found my Blog from Tested. http://www.tested.com/tech/gaming/456272-straightforward-guide-arcade-emulation-raspberry-pi/
Anyway, until next time, thanks for being patient with me and my slack updating of my blog.
